Art Forms

Arts are right at the core of all we do here at ngm. Our passion is to train up and release artists of excellence to make a difference in society. This Boot Camp course is designed to develop you in your artform through:

• Regular tuition with trained ngm tutors

• Master classes from people working in the industry

• Performance opportunities

• Regular assessments

• Studio recordings

We believe it is very important for artists to have a good grounding in biblical understanding as well as getting to grips with the culture that they will be working in. We also know that it is vital to develop intimacy with God, as well as tackle character issues, if we are to raise up artists passionate for God and able to make a difference in society. This will be done through a variety of ways:

Teaching & Practical Sessions

Each week there will be sessions from different speakers on areas which we believe will help develop your character and your biblical understanding. These sessions will be a mix of teaching, discussion and practical activities that will help you grow and develop in your walk with God. We are working with colleagues such as Trinity Church College in Bristol as well as a wide variety of speakers ranging from local pastors to international teachers to put together a really exciting course! In addition to the discipleship streams detailed below, you will also read books throughout the year that will challenge you to go deeper in your walk with God.

• Spiritual Disciplines
  Each discipleship day will begin with a spiritual discipline. This is a time for you to engage with God through creative activities and focus on the day ahead.

• Biblical Artistry
  This stream will take a look at what the Bible has to say about the arts and artists. It will equip you as a creative to understand how you can connect your gifting with God's purposes.

• Biblical Foundations
  Biblical foundations will get you excited about God's word! You will gain a deeper understanding of the 'greatest story ever old' as well as learning about key themes throughout the Bible.

• Biblical Lifestyle
  These sessions will be focused on what it really means to be a disciple of Jesus. With plenty of space for all these tough questions, we will be looking at all aspects of living a biblical life.

• Cultural Mandate
  This stream will immerse you in the many different aspects of our culture. Through input from quality people working within all areas of our culture, exciting trips out and lots of time for discussion and question- asking, you will gain a greater understanding of how to practically and effectively engage with our world as a follower of Jesus.

• 360 Degree Wholeness
  This stream will give you the chance to discover who you are in God. We will look at all aspects of character and identity, helping you to become the whole, fully alive person that God has created you to be!

One-to-one Mentoring

In ngm everyone has a personal mentor; someone they can pray with, ask advice from and who can encourage them in all the areas of their life. Over the past 20 years of ngm's history we have come to recognise this as something that is vital to each individual's growth and development.

Missional

Mission is an integral part of who we are at ngm and is central to our discipleship programme. You will have the opportunity to get involved in mission on many different levels as we believe it not only helps to open our eyes to the needs all around us, but getting stuck in helps us grow and develop our character.

Arts-Based Mission

This may be local, national or international, and can offer different opportunities to perform and teach your artform, which in turn can help you develop as an artist. This can take place in the form of school workshops, after school clubs, concerts etc. And can be anything from a one off event to a week long mission. Again, you will be working alongside others in ngm as well as churches and organisations who we partner with.

International Mission

During the year you will have the chance to go on one international mission. Over the last few years teams have visited South Africa, Mozambique, Kenya and Belarus; however, we are working with partners to extend our mission opportunities. These missions will give you the chance to use your artforms as well as see God use you in amazing ways through spending with the hurt and the needy in the world.

Boot Camp Fees

Course fees for the year are £3940 + VAT @ 20% (Gross is £4728). For technical interns this fee is reduced to £2540 + VAT @20% (Gross is £3048) as we recognize that as well as learning, you will fulfill a vital role here at ngm.

During the year you will also need to raise money to pay for your overseas mission, this will be in the region of £900 - £1300 but varies according to where you go. The amount will be finalised while you are here and will be needed by May 2013. We do have all sorts of fundraising ideas and initiatives to help you with this.

Accommodation and support
We take responsibility to arrange accommodation in houses or flats of 3 or 4 for all of our new students, However once the tenancy agreement is signed, all responsibilities of the tenant, including paying rent is passed over entirely to each individual. Costs vary from flat to flat and house to house, but generally accommodation costs tend to be in the region of:

Initial deposit (returnable at end of tenancy): varies between £350 and £700

Monthly rent: ranges between £200 and £280. Due to the nature of ngm’s work, most students (not overseas applicants) are eligible for housing benefit which can help cover anywhere between a portion and the majority of your rent and council tax. This is something we can explain further to you at the interview.

Bills: Around £50 each per month. This should cover water rates and gas & electricity. If your house decides to get a TV licence and internet, this will be in addition.

You’ll then need money for day to day living costs for food and however else you decide to spend your spare time.

NB: The accommodation and support costs are guidelines and will vary according to different circumstances.
