MYA – Mentoring Young Artists
ngm has launched this brand new course for 13 - 17 year olds -Developing Young artists with Determinative Passion in their Giftings
“ Our popular culture seems to be creating lots of pressures for young artists to see success only in terms of winning a talent show or becoming a signed artist and having instant public acclaim and all the trappings of what being a ‘star’ promises“
Ray Goudie. Producer / Songwriter
MYA – Mentoring Young Artists, is ngm academy’s brand new unique and innovative course, specifically designed to help develop young creatives. It will give them the kind of foundations they will need to help them survive in our frenzied pop culture, where incredible pressures and pitfalls can destroy those who are young and unprepared.
This unique course has one to one mentoring at its heart. Every young artist who is part of MYA will be ‘adopted’ by one of ngm’s experienced artists, who will have a close relationship with them to really mentor and develop them. This ‘apprenticeship’ process will include distance and online training where the young artists can ask questions, get advice and also be steered and helped through their teenage years. Specific time with their mentors will also happen at ngm’s £3 million pop academy, where they will be able to experience hands on training in their artform. This includes performance skills, technique in their appropriate artform, recording in state of the art studios, Internet presence, evaluations and they will also receive masterclasses from very experienced artists working in the music and entertainment industry.
MYA artists will have opportunities to perform and learn by ‘doing,’ and not just ‘hearing'.The course has been designed to be holistic and to develop these young artists in their skills, character, their faith, the culture, the arts and entertainment industry, and how to be salt and light as they seek to live it out in today’s society. The course is open to dancers, singers, musicians, DJs, engineers and producers. Close liaison with parents/guardians and the local church, where appropriate, are essential to MYA.
Our heart is to train and develop young artists ages 13-17. This MYA course designed to develop you through-
