The Vocals syllabus contains three main elements: Vocal technique, performance skills and vocal projects. Specific disciplines are combined within each element to increase your skills and build up a varied repertoire.
Vocal Technique Classes
These sessions will give you a basic understanding of the voice and its physiology. You will be getting used to working vocally both individually and as a group. In these classes you will learn how to use your voice and warm up correctly, overcome vocal weaknesses and look after your instrument through vocal maintenance.
These sessions are your chance for some one-on-one tuition. They are designed as a place where you can work on your vocal performances, ask more in depth questions about any challenges you are facing in your singing and hopefully work towards overcoming them. You will also also work towards goals each term, agreed between you and your tutor, as you work on solo vocal projects.
These classes are designed to further the work covered in technique classes and solo projects. A visiting vocal coach will take the master classes to give you experience of different teaching styles.
Group Vocal Projects
You and your fellow vocal students will form various vocal ensembles to study repertoire, vocal blending, harmonising and performing as a group.
You will learn the basics of music theory, developing your versatility as a vocalist.
You will take part in recording sessions in ngm's state-of-the-art professional recording studio.
This class takes your songs from rehearsal to the stage looking at what it means to craft a performance. you will explore the use of choreography, lighting, backing vocalists and props alongside your songs.
You will take part in fitness sessions alongside your fellow academy students which are designed to help build your stamina for control in your vocal performances.
