iNGM Guidelines

Our heart is to support you and these guidelines are designed to help you get the best out of your experience with us. Please read these guidelines carefully before signing the declaration. If you do not understand or have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact us so we can help explain these more fully.

1. ngm operates a ‘Safe from Harm’ Policy and will carry out a Disclosure & Barring Service check (previously CRB) prior to the start of the internship. We reserve to right to withdraw an offer of a place, if checks reveal that someone has been disqualified from working with children and young people, or has a criminal conviction that is not appropriate for working with young people e.g. drug dealing.

2. Accommodation: Once accommodation has been assigned, there will be specific guidelines given.

3. Visitors: You are welcome to have people come to visit you but please note it is not acceptable or conducive to your development for your guests to be hanging around the ngm site while you are working. We would therefore ask that visitors come outside of hours that you are supposed to be working.

4. Turning up: Attendance at evening meetings and cell groups are integral and part of your internship and are as such not optional. If you have two unexplained absences to any meetings or sessions, you will meet and discuss this with us and where appropriate, action will be taken. After a third unexplained absence, your continual breaking of our agreement will indicate to us that you are choosing to leave, and we will send you home. No refund will be given, fees will still be payable in full, and you will still be responsible for the rent of your accommodation for the full year.

5. Excellence: Punctuality and tidiness reflect our attitude to our work and ngm expects all staff and interns to be punctual for their work. Lateness may exclude you from any ngm activities. Where recurring lateness occurs, warnings will be given. After three warnings your continual breaking of our agreement will indicate to us that you are choosing to leave, and we will send you home. No refund will be given, fees will still be payable in full, and you will still be responsible for the rent of your accommodation for the full year.

6. Time-off: Official holidays are allocated and all personal holidays should be taken within this time. Additional time off will only be granted in exceptional circumstances e.g. weddings, family grievances etc. In these circumstances please inform us. Interns are allowed to go home for weekends etc but only if it does not conflict with the intern pathway, performances, or ngm events. We do honour outstanding commitments put in place before you have accepted your place with the internship pathway, so at the time of accepting your place and signing this agreement, please do send us any dates already in the diary. Any dates not sent to us before the start of the course will fall under the iNGM guidelines and may not be allowed. We do expect full attendance. It is unfair on everyone in ngm to be absent outside of agreed holidays. Failure to comply with this will also indicate to us that you are choosing to leave and we will send you home. No refund will be given, fees will still be payable in full, and you will still be responsible for the rent of your accommodation for the full year.

7. Smoking: We do not allow people to smoke during their time at ngm. If you currently smoke, we will give you help to enable you to give up.

8. Pastoral issues: ngm reserves the right to contact your referees/pastoral leader during the year if pastoral issues arise which may require further assistance from those who have known you for longer than we have.

9. Finance: All course fees and deposits are non-refundable once the course has started and should be paid in full one month before the first term starts.

Thank you for taking the time to read through all these guidelines. Please make sure you understand them before signing. Please contact us if you want to discuss these more fully. Thank You.
